Faith rises from a crucified life

An article from Inside Hope...

Faith rises from a crucified life

truly live a life of faith, we have to live a crucified life. Just as Jesus pointed out in the parable of the sower (Matt 13:18-23), the quality of the plant produced is dependent on the quality of the soil. Just as the Word of God does not change in its quality nor its effectualness, yet the outcome is dependent on the quality of the heart of the recipient.

The Apostle Paul clearly sees the life of faith as linked to the crucified life. Gal 2:20 (NIV) "20I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me."

Unless we are crucified with our desires in Christ, the life we live will be tarnished with our selfish desires. We cannot expect to be fully released into a life of faith because soil of our heart is not fully receptive to the intents and purposes of God. Unless we have been set free from self by the power of God, there is a constant conflict between our agenda and God's.

God may release His rhema Word to us, but we may easily distort it due to the filter of our inner desires and selfish wants. The parable of the sower refers to the seed whose life is choked by the concerns for this world and the deceitfulness of wealth (Matt 13:22). Faith is hindered. Such distortions may cause us to miss what God is actually saying to us.

When we crucify our lives in Christ, we discover freedom to live for God. Our prayers become unselfish, outward-looking and God-focussed. We listen to God, not for our sakes, but for God's glory. Paul's prayer was written in Gal 6:14 (NIV) "May I never boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, through which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world." Then we become more attuned to God's desires than to our own. The more attuned we are, the more faith will arise and the more God can work through us.

We must realise that faith is the outcome first of all of a relationship. Not formula. It is about hearing and obeying a Person. Faith is not based on techniques and mechanics, even though there are principles involved. Some seem to make God out like a coin-operated dispensing faith machine. Some heavenly Santa Claus that responds, regardless of how we maintain our relationship with God, according to our cues. We have sadly missed it, if we go down this route. God is a Person and is Personal. To treat God in an impersonal way is surely a great insult to Him.

Let us relate to God deeply, flowing out from a crucified life that seeks to live for Him. Out of such a relationship, true faith will abound.

Satan's Divisive Schemes

I've had a long day, filling up people's requests, running around doing things seemingly futile. People just want to meet their own agenda. "Who cares how I feel. No one cares to consider if they can be of help rather than a pain." by 5pm, I'm exhausted, drained, speechless..." I've had enough today. Don't wanna bother about anything else.."

Miscommunication, misunderstanding, mis-judgement, mis-calculation and whatever else that's been missed....aren't they the ones that are supposed to know what to do, what to say, what they're SUPPOSED to do?? Can't they just work with it? Only if they did the right thing in the right time....How frustrating.....

I'm tired and sleepy, I wish you could just  hurry up!

I don't like how you said it...(though i know you have no bad intention)...but I just don't like the way you said it. You're ALWAYS like this...2 years ago, 2 months ago, 2 days ago, 2 minutes ago...I somehow remember it all. See, that's you...you're such a....err...I don't know..I AM NOT HAPPY.

I accept your comments, but but but....i still think I'm right...actually, i don't agree with you...what's wrong with my way. Who are you to tell me what I should do?

Why are you treating her better than me? You never correct her when she did that? Why are you so strict with me? Why can't I be like one of them?

why should I submit to you. Unless you prove yourself capable (like me)...you're not good enough.

They only want me to do things, only call me when they need me to do things for them. They don't care......they're superficial.

What it really is...
insecurity, pride, comparision, jealousy, past hurts, self-righteousness, weaknesses undealt with. It's all about how I feel, what I want. It's all about me.

ALERT!!

"I appeal to you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that all of you agree with one another so that there may be no divisions among you and that you may be perfectly united in mind and thought". 1 Cor 1:10

"As it is, there are many parts, but one body. The eye cannot say to the hand, “I don’t need you!” And the head cannot say to the feet, “I don’t need you!” On the contrary, those parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, and the parts that we think are less honorable we treat with special honor. And the parts that are unpresentable are treated with special modesty, while our presentable parts need no special treatment. But God has combined the members of the body and has given greater honor to the parts that lacked it, so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other. If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it." 1 Cor 12:20-27

"Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the UNITY of the Spirit through the bond of peace." Eph 2:2-3

Dear God, Make us alert so that we may guard our hearts. In Jesus Name we bind all the negative thoughts about our fellow brothers and sisters, the leaders, and the church. Let not any of us fall into Satan's divisive schemes. Amen!
